THE CHALLENGE:
Leading creative direction and pioneering digital delivery for Deloitte's pursuit of a global audit engagement for one of the world's largest oil and gas supermajors—a Top 10 Fortune Global 500 company. The competitive tender pitted Deloitte against other Big Four firms, with the incumbent earning approximately $47M annually for audit services. Beyond the competitive pressure, the pursuit required navigating complex stakeholder dynamics, including a lead client service partner resistant to digital innovation, while coordinating creative work across US and London teams over an extended timeline.

THE STRATEGY:

Working with the pursuit writer, I developed a tennis-themed concept after researching the client's sponsorship portfolio and interests. The pursuit team—comprised of partners from around the world—wanted to move beyond generic banking imagery and metaphors.

I created a distinctive visual approach using cutout imagery against Deloitte's bold colors and designed a die-cut cover that opened along tennis court lines—immediately differentiating our proposal from standard corporate presentations.

The second challenge was demonstrating our global service capabilities: showing we had teams distributed across their tournament locations while proving they were closely interconnected and responsive. I coordinated photographers in several global locations, providing precise specifications to capture Deloitte professionals in a way that would map visually to the client's tennis sponsorship footprint.

THE WORK:

I managed all creative direction and execution, from concept through production. This included sourcing and coordinating international photographers across multiple locations, providing detailed art direction to ensure visual consistency despite different photographers and time zones. I created the custom artwork in Illustrator—modifying stock imagery and creating original illustrations in the cutout style against Deloitte's bold color palette.

The die-cut cover required close collaboration with our printer to engineer a binding solution that would open along tennis court lines while maintaining structural integrity. I provided detailed sketches and specifications to bring the concept from idea to production reality. As deadlines approached, I coordinated with supporting designers to ensure all proposal sections maintained visual coherence.

THE RESULT:

A proposal that transformed a potential concern—globally distributed teams—into a competitive advantage by visually demonstrating Deloitte's ability to deliver locally in every market where the client's sponsorship was active, wrapped in a presentation that stood apart from generic banking proposals.
